Both companies issued statements refuting claims by the FDA that their raw food contained dangerous pathogens, such as salmonella. And while government regulations would require officials to handle raw dog food samples with proper temperature handling procedures, in practice this does not seem to be followed — essentially creating a problem where there was not one.
Most recently, this week in New Jersey, Dept. of Health officials entered retail pet stores and destroyed raw goat milk products intended for pet use, under the guise of enforcing an existing law banning raw milk products for human consumption. Pet food store owners and raw feeding advocates in New Jersey are now seeking legal representation against these actions, which they believe to be illegal.
